Travis Dewan - Festival Director
Travis is an artist and arts worker born and raised in Brisbane. He is interested in shaping new ways in which the arts in Brisbane are accessed, viewed and shared. Travis is the founder, director and program manager of Brisbane Emerging Art Festival.
Laura Zaidman - Festival Manager
Laura is an event manager with a strong passion for films and new art forms. After completing a Master of Art Management and working at the Louvre Museum, she came to Brisbane to work for the French Film Festival. Falling in love with the cultural diversity of the city, she decided to support the Brisbane art sector in every possible ways. Since then, Laura has worked for major cultural events such as Brisbane International Film Festival and Fete de la Musique.
Alithea Josaphine - Festival Coordinator
Alithea is an emerging visual artist and curator based in Brisbane. Alithea is a highly active member of the Brisbane arts community and has been involved with projects such as Papergirl Brisbane, Virion, Box Monthly and the 2012 2high Festival. She has also worked as a manager and curator on a number of group exhibitions including Reframed, White Canvas Gallery and Reframed13, Bleeding Hearts Gallery and is currently undertaking the roles of Site Design and MegaMix coordinator for the 2013 2high Festival. Alithea graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) from QUT. Working with a diverse range of mediums and processes, her practice focuses on identifying fragments of life where conflicting or contradictory elements exist side by side.
Taylor Lloyd - Festival Coordinator
Taylor is currently studying at the University of Queensland undertaking a Bachelor of Business Management/ Arts majoring in Art History. She plans to continue her studies hopes to continue working with emerging artists in Australia.
Scarlett Hoey - Festival Coordinator
Scarlett Hoey graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2012. She is an artist who is actively involved in arts development and historic sites in Boston, USA and Brisbane, Australia. When she is not wandering museum halls, she enjoys photographing her adventures and running by the river.
Stephen Russell - Visual Art Co-Curator
Stephen Russell is a Brisbane based visual artist and Co-Director of Artist Run Initiative Accidentally Annie Street Space. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from Queensland University of Technology, he is active within Brisbane’s visual arts community and has exhibited widely.
Rachael Parsons - Visual Art Co-Curator
Rachael is a curator and academic within the Creative industries Faculty at Queensland University of Technology. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Honours (Visual Arts) in 2006 as well as her Masters of Research in 2011 from QUT. Rachael’s masters research explored new curatorial methodologies for the exhibition of digital art and culminated with Virion – a distributed screen and on-line based exhibition. She has exhibited her own work both in Brisbane and internationally and has worked as an independent freelance curator focusing on digital media exhibitions. Rachael also facilitates creative workshops with both QUT’s Creative Industries Precinct and the Flying Arts.
Matt Grehan - Short Film Curator
Matt works in entertainment usually producing short films and music videos. He is interested in new modes of story-telling, especially transmedia and alternate reality games. He is also interested in event management, specifically film-related, exhibition, networking, marketing events.
Eleanor Jackson - Spoken Word Curator
Eleanor Jackson is a Filipino Australian poet, performer, arts producer and radio broadcaster.Two-time winner of the Midsumma Poetry Out Loud slam and recent National Poetry Slam finalist, Eleanor has featured at the Overload Poetry, Queensland Poetry, Melbourne Writers, Brisbane Writers, Anywhere Theatre and Woodford Folk festivals.
